We put the boat in at o dark thirty &
started fishing all by our selves. We ended
up 4 out of 5 with a couple dandies. Rob
landed a mint bright 14 to 15 pound buck.
Katie Robs 12 year old daughter landed a
fish that was 17 to 18 pounds. We released
the big fish & continued fishing.
Wed. the river
had dropped and was in perfect shape. Katie
started the day on her third cast of the
morning. We ended up hooking 9 fish &
landing 7 great day. We are going to get
some weather for the next couple days
predictions for 70 mph winds & a lot of
rain. Hopefully we don't get blown out for
to long.
I still have
some day's open in Jan.,21& 22. I also have some days available
later in the season as well. If any one

Report: Winter Steelhead
Winter Steelhead
is in full swing. l Start fishing on Tuesday
& it looks like we will be fishing the
Smith. I would rather fish the Eel but
with this storm we just had & one on
the way there is only one river to fish. We
have what looks like a big storm coming in
on Thursday & this will keep the
southern rivers blown out. I have heard that
fishing hasn't been easy but its just a
matter of time before the rivers flood with
fish.
I still have

Report: Klamath,Trinity river & Smith River
Well After
pretty much A grinding season on the
Klamath. I left the river on a good note.
After A lot of tough fishing with a few
great day's in-between. My team won first
place on the first Salmon & Steelhead Derby
on the Klamath river. The event was put on
by Friends Of Cal-Ore Fish & we raised
$10,000 for our Hatcheries. Our team in two
day's hooked 36 adult fish & landed 18.
After leaving
the Klamath I fished the Trinity for a
couple Day's. The fishing was decent for us
but I did not kill'em by no means but did
manage to catch our fish. I didn't really
have a chance to find the good I was hearing
about. The rain pounded us last night &
forced me to not fish this morning. Right now the
rivers are all swollen & with any luck we
will have receding flows in the morning. I
plan to fish the Smith in the morning & for
the rest of Oct. If you want to
catch big salmon and on the Smith river its
time .Space is very limited & important

will have to wait and see what it does to

only improve for the time being. Space is

Fishing has been
hit and miss for the last week as the water
temperature has remained in the 70 degree
range. We also saw a lot of
pressure with the holiday weekend being the
peak. We are seeing plenty of salmon
and steelhead in the river and with some
cooler temperatures either weather wise or
some cold flows from the Trinity we will see
fishing spike wide open.
I only have 8
day's left available in my boat for Sept.&

fishing has pretty consistent for the last
month. I haven't had many Salmon to the net.
Word on the street is there are lots of fish
being netted at the mouth. There is also a
release scheduled for the Trinity witch we
will see in a couple day's. This will
certainly push the Salmon up past those
net's. I look forward to the Salmon &

Report: Klamath river
Hello, fishermen
the Springer fishing has been hit & miss.
Springer fishing all boils down to a few
things & obviously we need fish to start.
Secondly you need to be able to get up early
enough to get a good spot. thirdly A lot of
time on the water & a lot of patients.
With the river
getting so low already this year the troll
bait will most likely start any day now.
This will also trigger the steelhead to slow
down & start holding in the riffles. There
has been a fair amount of steelies caught
already. These fish are just like the
Springers. They won't stop until the water
drops.
I know I said my
reports were going to be more current but my
computer made a liar out of me. We are back
up & running again sorry for any
inconveniences. reservations 707-839-8127

Report: Klamath river
Hello, fishermen
the Springers have showed. I have had limits
of fish for the last two days. The fish have
been heavy to. I heard a boat got a thirty
pounder yesterday. The local plunkers have
really been putting the smack down as well.
All the other boat anglers I have spoken
with have been doing very well. Over all it
sounds like the river is kicking out some
very nice fish for everybody.
My fishing
report is & will be updated at least twice a
week from here on through the fall
season now that there are some fish
showing.you can contact me at 707-498-4087

Report: Klamath river
Well it look's like we've ended up with a
great quota this year. The Department of
fish & game has estimated that the Klamath
River has 600,000 three year old Salmon
returning from the ocean. Along with 26,000
four year old fish. If the DFG predictions
are accurate most of the run will be three
year old fish that average 8 to 15 pounds.
The PFMC & fish & game has set the quota at
10,600 fish. A far better scenario then last
season. Anglers will be able to keep
2-adults & 1 jack per day with a total of 12
Chinook in 7 days, no more than 4 adults in
that 7 day period. Lets not forget about 1
fin clipped Steelhead.
Springer's are starting to come in the river
right now.
The Trinity River will have it's spring
flows starting April 27th . Bor will
increase the flows from 300cfs to 4500cfs by
may 1st, the peak flows will last for a week
& then there will be a gradual reduction of
the water flows until June 25th. At this
time the river will assume the normal summer
flow at 450cfs.
Remember
now this will be a very busy season so book
your dates asap.I will Start running
Springer trips in my power boat in mid may.
The Springer season runs into July at this
time we switch gears & Start Targeting
Summer Run Steelhead. We will fish the
Steelhead until the fall Salmon arrive
usually in mid to late August. Keep in mind
that late Aug.-Sept. will be really busy. So
be sure to book your Guide & lodging

Well
fishing has been pretty darn tough the last
few day's. Scores have been the same
for most boats with 0 to 3 with the
occasional 5 or 6. Conditions have been next
to perfect with good color & river level,
just not a lot of fish. All the rivers down
south were just coming into shape.
Unfortunately the rain we are getting
tonight will surely blow them right back
out. We are supposed to get at least 4
inches in the next two day's this will even
blow the smith & Chetco right back out to.
Hopefully this storm will bring a good push
of fish in.

Sorry for
the lack of reports I've been really busy
here is the run down. On Thursday & Friday I
fished with Mike Pratt & Dave & had great
success. Thur. We hooked 10 & landed 9 with
big fish about 16 lbs. Friday we hooked 9 &
landed 8 with a big one. Weighed in at 21
lbs. & released. The small amounts of rain
we had on Wed. & Thur. was just enough to
make me decide to go north to the Smith. I
Heard that the was a lot of fish in the
system but were hard to catch because of the
clear water. We didn't see hardly any color
change Thur. or Fri. but it sure did stir
the fish up & put um on the bite. On
Saturday I had a perfect score 0 for 0.. I
had changed my normal routine because the
water conditions had changed but it just
didn't pan out. All in all it sounded like a
tough bite for everybody. I do no that there
were a ton of fresh fish moving in to the
river judging by all the fresh fish rolling
every where in the after noon. We got blown
out on Sunday & did not fish do to
unfishable river conditions. On Mon. the
river was back in good shape but the bite
just never turned on. I saw 3 fish caught
all day. I have a couple day's off & I will
be back fishing on Fri. for the Perk derby
this weekend.

We finally
have come rain the forecast. Looks like we
will get a 1/2 tomorrow night & then rain on
Wednesday & Thursday with a chance of
precipitation the remainder of the week. I
have enjoyed my stay at home fishing these
southern rivers. It looks like we will get
enough rain to be forst back to the Smith &
the Chetco. I have had this Friday &
Saturday get cancelled so if any buddy is
interested give me a call. We will just have
to see what this weather will bring us.
Hopefully just enough to bring some more
fresh fish in the river systems & get the
water up & flowing.

Report: secret fishing hole
Fishing has
remained to be really good to me & my sticks
in the boat. I have just ban amazed at the
amount of fish that I have managed to hook
since my last report. It can be really hard
to post these report's when fishing
conditions are tough like this. Not only do
I have long time clients & potential new
clients reading my reports. I also have
other drift boaters that
are searching to find out were they can
possibly find some fish to catch to. When
conditions get like this I have found it's a
pretty good idea to find your own water to
fish to be successful. Today we hooked 10
fish landing 6 with a double hook up in mix.
I had wed. & thur off & between mon & tue.
we hooked 34 fish with 6 double hook ups .
We all know that we are in desperate need of
rain to get these rivers up and fishing
good. Unfortunately I still don't see any
rain in the forcast. It does seem like the
section of river that I've been fishing has
had a constant push of fresh fish. I just
hope that I don't start naming the fish
we've been catching in each run .

Report: Eel River Steelhead
Fishing has
been really good to me & my sticks in the
boat. Yesterday we fished the Eel & hooked
12 fish & only put one in the net
fortunately we got to fight them for a bit
before we had the hook & weight shot back at
us while the fish were in mid air made it
bearable. Today we went & fished the Trinity
because the Eel is getting packed with
people & the water is getting really clear &
felt the bight was going to die. Sure enough
I talked with friend & fellow guide Brice
Dusi who had fished the Eel today & my
suspicion was right. There were tons of
boats & a lot of zero's. Fishing on most
north coast rivers will be very tough until
we see some rain.

Today I had
a single and the boat and we fished the
lower Eel river. What a day we had
going 9 for 13 with the biggest a hen going
19lbs on the scale....with just a single in
the boat. The weather was beautiful
and the river is starting to get a little
low and we could use a little rain. The Eel is not only one of the best
producing rivers around it has some of the
hardest fighting steelhead you will find.
Now with the weather break we are fortunate
to have this opportunity to fish such a
pristine and gorgeous river! Book your

We had a
slower bite today. The river was in perfect
shape but just a little cold. My boat ended
up with 4 fish all mint bright. I think we
might of rapped it up just a little to
early. Around 12:00 it started to rain &
neither Jim or Matty had rain gear. With the
air temp just above freezing made for a
really miserable conditions & the guy's just
had enough at 1:00. So we pulled the plug
before those guy's lost a finger or two.
Murphy's law, as soon as we did the shuttle
& had the the boat on the trailer the
weather cleared a little & warmed up. That's
fishing better luck tomorrow. I talked with
a couple other guides that were fishing the
same stretch with me & they said the bite
turned on after the weather broke. The Eel will
be the go to river for the next week or so.

I have not
fished for a couple day's. My wife went into
labor on New Years day & had a baby boy at
12:20 on the 2nd. He is 7.6 lbs. 20.5" & we
named him Cole Riley. Well now you know the
hole story let's get to fishing. The river
blew out for a couple day's & did not
fish. Today the river was back at 12.5 this
morning & fishin. Most of the reports that I
received were poor 2 to 0 well that's
fishing. That doesn't mean they weren't
there 12.5 can be a tough level for some.
The fish can be just about any were & you
just got to get it in front of them. In the
last week there has been two 26 lb. fish
caught with a couple other low 20 lb. fish
boated. The Smith & Chetco should come into
prime shape for the next week. Remember book
