What’s
on Tap?
Klamath Spring Salmon
We had
a killer Springer season last year.
This season we should have more of
the same with all of the high water. Those of you
that know me well know that I have
not perused this fishery a whole
lot but with the phenomenal
season last year I got the Springer
bug. I’m going to change my
routine and offer Springer Trips
starting mid may through the end of
June. Springer's are not only the
best eating Salmon on the planet;
they are also the hardest fighting
fish as well.
Klamath Fall Salmon
Fall
Salmon begin entering the system in
the beginning of August. We catch
several nice fish trolling the
estuary. The salmon usually
start migrating up river at the end
of August. This is when we shift
gears and go fish up river. A
majority of our fish will be caught
with light spinning rods side
drifting roe or boondoggling.
Smith
River Fall Salmon
Bar none the best river to fish when
our first rains hit. Typically mid
Oct. These fish are monsters we see
lots of fish in the 30 to 40 lbs.
with its fair share of 50 lb class
fish as well. Most all of our fish
will come on back trolled quickfish.
When the water begins to clear we
will change tactics and bounce big
globs of Salmon roe.
